MOUNTAIN HONEYMOON IN BHUTAN

Day 1 Arrival in Paro to Thimphu (1.2 hrs).
On arrival in Paro international airport you will be received by HBT representative and transfer to Thimphu by private car. Check into your hotel. Delicious lunch will be served at your hotel and afternoon we will proceed for city sightseeing. Visit memorial chorten, stupa built in the memory of our late 3rd king and Buddha view point, which gives breathtaking pictures of entire Thimphu valley. We will walk down from the viewpoint to our hotel marking graceful first day in the Kingdom Bhutan. Overnight in Thimphu, altitude 2400m.

Day 2 Thimphu sightseeing.
After our leisurely breakfast we will start our day visiting handmade paper factory, visit painting school, nearby folk heritage museum and national library. Lunch in the town, after lunch we will drive to north end of Thimphu valley and hike to Tango monastery, which is converted into Buddhist college. Evening we will explore the weekend market (Thursday to Sunday only) and some handicrafts to understand the Bhutanese arts, textiles, painting, religious artifacts and the varieties. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 3 Thimphu to Punakha (2.5 hrs).
After our delicious breakfast, we will checkout from the hotel and proceed to Punakha. En-route we will stop at beautiful Dochula pass at 3050m. The pass offers charming views of the entire northern Bhutanese Himalayas during a clear day. We have warm tea/coffee at the cafeteria on the pass and proceed to warm fertile valley of Punakha. Hike to Chimi lhakhang, the temple of fertility which is associates with religious arts of phallus. Visit most beautiful 17th century Punakha Dzong, which showcase the finest arts and architects of Bhutan. Overnight in Punakha, altitude 1350m

Day 4 Punakha to Phobjikha (3 hrs).
Check out from the hotel after our delicious breakfast, we will drive to valley of black necked cranes via Wangdue. En-route we will visit Rinchengang village. Visit Gangey Gonpa and black necked crane center to get better idea and information about this endanger bird of Bhutan which migrates from Tibetan plateau to Phobjikha in every winter. Later in the evening we will visit typical Bhutan farm house or choose to stay at farm house that we offer in Phobjikha. Overnight in Phobjikha, altitude 2900m

Day 5 Phobjikha to Paro.
Check out from the hotel after our breakfast and retrace our drive back to Paro via, Wangdue, Dochula and Thimphu. On arrival in Paro, we will visit national museum of Bhutan and Paro dzong. Evening we will explore the tiny Paro town. Overnight in Paro, altitude 2200m.

Day 6 Paro- Sangchokor – Bumdra Trek (Trek Start).
Distance: 7 km , Walking Time: 4 hrs, Sleeping Altitude: 3500m.
Early morning after breakfast, drive to Sang Choekor to meet our ponies. While they are being loaded, we may pay our respects at the temple. The initial climb up from the temple through thick alpine forest take about 3 hours to reach at the base of old temple. The trail undulate for a while before the last steep pull up to the pretty temple which boast commanding views of southern Paro valley including airport. After a final 20 minutes climb through ruins and fluttering prayer flags, with a last glance southwards we plunge back into ancient forest traversing for about 40 minutes then come out onto a high wide meadow dotted with sacred chortens and prayer flags. Our home for the night is tucked in under Bumdra Monastery (cave of a thousand prayers) making the most of the awesome views of the Himalayan range. If time permits we can visit the monastery and also climb the peak to the north (about 4000m) for even better views, night halt at camp.

Day 7 Bumdra – Paro (Trek end).
Distance: 15km, Walking Time: 6hrs.
After a hearty breakfast in the jaw dropping landscape, it is time to either head straight back into the valley or linger awhile soaking up the view and perhaps hang some prayer flags of our own. Eventually we have to drop back into the ancient pine and rhododendron forest on the monks’ zig zagging trail. After 1-2 hours of descent we catch glimpses of the golden roofs of temples below and soon come upon the first of many on our way back from the wilds. The path snakes across the mountainside between the monasteries and temples before reaching the gardens of Zhangtopelri (Heaven on Earth) from which you can bravely peer over edge and straight down onto the ornate roofs of Taktsang in the cliff far below. An hour later and we are at the gates of Taktsang looking across the gorge a steep descent to a waterfall then ascent on steps and you are passing into the Tiger’s Nest itself. Retracing our steps we begin the final descent of about 45 minutes to reach our vehicle and drive back to hotel not forgetting to stop on the other side of the valley and look back at what we have achieved. Overnight in Paro, altitude 2200m.

Day 8 Haa Excursion.
Early morning drive for the isolated valley of Haa over one of the highest motorable road of Bhutan. If the weather permits, one can view the highest peak of Bhutan, Mt. Jumolhari. Visit Haa valley. Picnic lunch and evening explore the little town of Haa and drive back to Paro. Overnight in Paro.

Day 9 Departure.
The tour will end today. After the breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight. Carry smile on your face, eyes with tears and memories unlimited. Tour staffs will bid you farewell at the airport departure gate with the quick prayer of save journey and to see you again in future. Tashi Delek!
